Immortalize life's important moments with a commission created from your favorite photo. Great for portraits of humans, pets, homes, landscapes, and more.
By default, I work on wooden canvas panels. These are thin and do not warp, but I'm happy to work on another substrate if you prefer. I create underdrawings in graphite and charcoal, underpaintings in acrylic, and finally finish in oils. After the art is touch-dry (usually a few days), a protective varnish is applied.
You can expect consistent quality, attention to detail, personal attention, and excellent customer service throughout your commission experience.
Free worldwide shipping included.
Please see commission process below for more details.
For more than two subjects in the photo, please contact for a discussion and custom quote.
Photo Tips:
✔️ Angles: Photos at eye-level make for the most natural portraits.
✔️ Quality: Always send the highest resolution photo you can.
I am more than happy to help pick a photo if you’re struggling. Please email me at hello@laceejshaw.com for assistance.
Commission Process
I work directly with clients and would love to create the perfect bespoke piece for your needs.
Step 1: Purchase a Commission
Step 1: Purchase a Commission
For a streamlined process, you can navigate to the “Commissions” page and select the type of art you want and purchase directly. If it is in stock, I have availability to fulfill it.
If you prefer more traditional methods, or would like a piece that doesn’t fit in an existing category, you can email me your request at hello@laceejshaw@gmail.com and I can invoice you for a 50% non-refundable deposit before work begins. The remaining amount would be invoiced upon completion (including revisions) and would be paid before the artwork is shipped to you.
Step 2: Email, Phone, or Video Chat
Step 2: Email, Phone, or Video Chat
For every commission, I love to get to know my clients and talk about the goals for the artwork they are seeking to create. We can email, chat on the phone, or even do a video chat to discuss the subject matter, choose photos, and decide on color palettes. In this session we can also discuss timelines for final delivery.
Step 3: Revisions and Approvals
Step 3: Revisions and Approvals
Once I feel the artwork is in a good place, I will show you and request your feedback and approval. I want you to be completely satisfied with your artwork and experience. Therefore, I do not limit the number of revisions. We can also jump on a video call to go over the piece in detail. If you are local, you are welcome to visit the studio.
Step 4: Varnishing
Step 4: Varnishing
After the work has your final approval, we have to wait several days until it is touch-dry before we varnish it. A layer of Gamblin Gamvar varnish (gloss, satin, or matte) is applied and allowed to dry. This will protect the painting from the environment and allow for future cleaning of the painting.
Step 5: Shipping
Step 5: Shipping
I like to wait 3-5 days after varnishing before packing a painting to be shipped. The method changes depending on the size, and I am happy to hand deliver locally. Shipping is included in the cost of the commission. Please let me know once your painting has arrived so I can rest easy. :)
